Bagged Veg series
What is life without onions?
Imagine a sausage sizzle without a topping of their sweet glory. Their raw zing in a salad. Their unctuous support role in stews, and mujadara is all about the onions.
Here, our humble hero is presented enrobed as we see them at the local green grocer or supermarket.
Bagged Veg: Brown Onions
watercolour pencil, thread, bead on Canson paper
21 x 29.7cm, artwork size only
33 x 43 cm, framed size
What can’t you do with a brown onion?
If there were nothing but brown onions, I doubt we’d mind. Such versatility and flavour from the most unassuming vegetable. I’m sure you could even make ice cream with it.

Bagged Veg: White Onions
watercolour pencil, thread, bead on Canson paper
21 x 29.7cm, artwork size only
33 x 43 cm, framed size
Don’t worry, white onion, I’m sure there’ll be a famous dish or restaurant that will return you to equal status with your cousins. You’re also perfect for salads and pickling, without the threat of your bolder cousin’s colour leaching out, and capable of so much happiness.

Bagged Veg: Red Onions
watercolour pencil, thread, bead on Canson paper
21 x 29.7cm, artwork size only
33 x 43 cm, framed size
Eternally trendy, thanks to its vivid colour and less aggressive sting when eaten raw. Perfect for salads and pickling.
Available to buy individually or as the complete series at THE SPACE Gallery, Rosebery.
On show as part of the
Still Life exhibition
25 May – 12 June, 2022

A for Ashfield series
I present this new series, continuing on from the success of the house portaits from my full bush exhibition.
Accumulating an overabundance of source material to draw from, I’ve decided to help my indecision by beginning at the start; suburb by suburb in alphabetical order.
So here is Ashfield: a multicultural community in Inner Western Sydney, dotted by interesting old houses and buildings.
I love to combine my interest in architecture and drawing, along with the added texture and dimension of embroidery that represents the natural, elemental world.
